GROOVED EGGS FROM NORWAY

Hey Glassfloat friends!

I hope you all will enjoy my blog posts and info + pictures.

As you all know Grooved Eggs from Flesland Glassverk are valuable and every glassfloat collectors must have floats from Norway.
I remember during my research in old archives in state archives here in Bergen and at the library several years ago I found information about a guy and share holder at Flesland Glasswork, he's name was or is Oscar Anderssen and he was the founder or inventer from those grooved eggs here in Norway back in the old days, I don't know when Oscar Anderssen begun the experimential tests or produced grooved eggs but I found paperwork from a Patent or an application for a patent and I guess it was year 1936-38.

I don't remember exactly so if anyone have information and paperwork from the above info please let me know!

From my examin and study of the grooved dotted F and the grooved F1 glass float it seems like both floats has been made from the same form, also blown in a form at Flesland Glassverk. You can find the same indentations all over the float like tiny bumps in exactly the same spots in the glass. look at pictures below:

As mentioned earlier I now have a few eggs up for sale:
One grooved green dotted F and one grooved egg F1. both eggs are great, the dotted egg show some scratches on the edges from use at sea so I have set the price on the dotted egg at 99.00USD and the grooved perfect green(light green) F1 at 125.00USD both eggs will sell together for 220.00USD + shipping 19.00USD
I want to sell after the first man to come, first served basis! FLOATS ARE SOLD!
Congrats to the new owner (Robert)
PICTURES From both and below pictures from the grooved dotted egg first, Enjoy:

  1. Hi Per !
I am curious if the F1 and F2 marked egg floats have the same mold lines, could they both be from the same mold and yet stamped with a different id ? Thanks Todd
