Desember 09.2009

Nothing new from Bergen and Norway only Xmas shopping and Obama Security and the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, maybe I can ask Obama a question about using glass floats instead of those plastic floats to prevent pollution and stop Global Warming...LoL..

Sale and finds:
As I told you before, those two eggs was sold to an Norwegian collector and good friend and my rest from the Ă…lesund find is also sold to another Norwegian collector.

Another person who'is or was the owner of an old antique store up north is now working and digging for rare floats up north among he's fishermen friends and contacts.
So all we have to do is wait for interesting and rare floats to show up, he has my list and wish for floats and marks and I have also sendt a letter including my collector friends wishes.

Merry X-mas and take good care everyone!

Rare egg shaped floats

Hi glassfloat collector friends!
On pictures added below you can se an ordinary egg (M) mark and olive color, size approx 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and the very rare and very old heavy egg float, olive color, no mark or is it a mark? (look at pictures) size approx; 7" x 4 1/3" My guess is that these hard to find, heavy old eggs are the first floats made here in Norway and I guess from my research it have to be approx late year 1700 - 1840, that's my guess. What do you think?

My plan with these floats is to sell both floats together not separately to the high bidder, you can use this email for bids pegunnar@broadpark.no or per@fotomanisk.com

Perfect Xmas gift for any collector  ;)   Ps. CLICK ON PICTURES for closeup images!

Both eggs are from the same area on the west coast mid Norway (My last travel and research)

Who came first, the glass float egg or the Eagle

Was visiting Molde area and the west coast this weekend beautiful weather conditions, sunny and warmt daytime and deep frozen during the night and early in the morning. I was sleeping in a cabin situated in the middle of nowhere used for Bird of prey hide and my sleeping bag was for temperature above zero degrees. But it was fun, plenty wildlife and interesting birds like; European Eagles, Golden Eagle and Sea Eagle (I don't know the US name for those birds but they are related to the Bald Eagle.

A few very interesting teardrops showed up but you know, it is difficult to get a deal when all floats was from an exhibition at an local Pizza Restaurant. I tried my very best but ended up with plenty Pizza!

Here's the Golden Eagle, she is laying on all those rare mid size and heavy glass float eggs...LoL Seriously; This is a shot from Friday morning approx 11.00 and she is sitting on a top of a tree waiting for the huge Golden Eagle on the picture below finishing he's meal!
What an experience se all those wild eagles...WoW... and I got plenty interesting pictures too. And those glass egg floats will arrive mid next week.
Take good care my friends!

Will add a picture or two into this blog when I am back home from my travel. My flight is early in the morning Thursday and I will have more facts for you mid next week.

Ps.
It is also a kind of funny to read Tom's blog http://seahermit.blogspot.com/ and find that he also found a similar treasure like I did on my expedition last year digging for floats on the beach several hundred miles across the earth , look at pictures:
